We made it easy for you! We combined all of that as one concept.

But before talking about the Sheridan PSB loyalty card, let’s warm-you-up a little.

What if someone told you that practicing physical exercise can benefit your life in many ways, would you believe it?

Fortunately, that is true. By simply moving your body for a couple of minutes a day can immediately provide long-lasting and protective benefits for your brain, such as: boosting your memory, reducing stress and anxiety, developing motivation, and even preventing neurodegenerative diseases as Alzheimer’s.

Boosting your memory

Studies have shown that exercises effect directly the hippocampus, part of our brain responsible for learning and memory. In other words, by exercising, you improve your cardiovascular system, resulting in immediate improvements in your capacity to store information. Yes! Simple physical activities such as walking, running or cycling before your studies can help you remember more things for your test.

Enhancing your concentration

Do you have problems focusing on your studies or having a satisfactory concentration in other activities? Exercise can help you with that as well! Scientific studies have demonstrated that the practice of exercises has positive effects on the prefrontal cortex (part of the brain that plays the role of decision-making, focus, attention, and personality), therefore helping you focus and stay on task.

Improving your mental health

Person suffering from depression and anxiety

It is not limited to only performance. As stated by Wendy Suzuki, a neuroscientist, a single workout will immediately increase levels of neurotransmitters like dopamine, serotonin, and noradrenaline, which will increase your mood right after the workout and as you continue practicing exercises and developing it as a habit, all improvements cited above will last even longer.

Moreover, Dr. Suzuki states that when you change your exercise regime, your cardiorespiratory function improves and you start experiencing long-lasting effects. Your brain changes its anatomy, physiology, and function.

Protecting you from neurodegenerative diseases

Lastly, Dr. Wendy emphasizes that the most transformative discovery that exercise will do is its protective effects on your brain. As you work out, just like a muscle, the bigger and stronger your hippocampus and prefrontal cortex gets. Indeed, our brain increases its volume as we practice physical activities, and since the two most susceptible areas to neurodegenerative diseases and normal cognitive decline are the hippocampus and prefrontal cortex, exercises empower your brain in a way that it takes longer for those diseases to have an effect on you.

Are you thinking that it will require extreme efforts? That you will have to deposit too much time and energy to start seeing the results? You are wrong! 30 minutes! Yes, as stated by Dr. Wendy, only 30 minutes of daily exercise can provide you with those huge life benefits.

Since time comes to be one of the most precious things in life, little time today can be significantly more time tomorrow, how do you want to spend your life?
